Impact Investing gaining mainstream recognition in India

It is encouraging to see that the impact investing industry in India is gaining mainstream recognition these days. Businessworld, the country’s main business magazine ran a cover-story in November titled Social Capital, featuring all the major social venture capitalists in the country.

Almost all of the organizations featured in the story were covered by us in the past including Aaavishkaar, Intellecap, Omidyar Network, Acumen Fund, Gray Matters Capital, Comat Technologies, and Husk Power Systems.

Kudos to Businessworld for providing prominent coverage to the social investing space in a critical time, when the microfinance industry in the country is wheeling under a major crisis. The growing number of funds and increasing investment capital available will be a boon for start-up entrepreneurs eager to build social
enterprises.
