Indicorps (www.indicorps.org), a primarily volunteer-driven organization, encourages aspiring young leaders of the Indian Diaspora to engage in intense grassroots development opportunities that explore the promise of leadership and help leverage their skills and talents to address India’s pressing needs. The organization encompasses several programs, including Volunteer Ahmedabad (VA!), capitalizing on the spirit of volunteerism of Ahmedabad citizens; Ahmedabad Ultimate, promoting the spirit of fair play and competition through Frisbee; and the flagship Indicorps Fellowship Program. Indicorps flagship Fellowship Program emphasizes public service and personal growth, seeking to nurture and inspire a new brand of socially conscious leaders through structured one – and two-year grassroots service opportunities in India.
Indicorps is designed to give young people a non-political, non-partisan, non-religion based opportunity to participate in India’s progress. Over 100 Fellows have participated in the intense self-journey of the Indicorps Fellowship. Fellows have come from all over the world including Canada, Hong Kong, India, South Africa, the United States, United Kingdom, and U.A.E.
Currently, the organization is led by a handful of full-time staff members who are volunteers at large and are deeply committed to Indicorps philosophy of service. Team members promote Indicorps’ diverse efforts by inspiring civic responsibility and mobilizing persons of Indian origin around the world to meaningfully contribute to India. As the organization launches its 10th Fellowship class, Indicorps is undergoing a thoughtful strategic expansion to continue its meaningful impact on young people and India’s development. In this vein, Indicorps seeks to increase its in-country team with passionate people who are committed to service and India. New team members will play an integral role in strengthening, supporting and managing a meaningful, high-quality service program. Ideal applicants will be dynamic, forward-thinking, and eager to contribute.
