CSIM’s workshop on empowering the underprivileged
If you are socially conscious but spoilt for ideas, you are likely to get some tips this Sunday, May 24th in Hyderabad where the workshop on” scheduled to be held. The workshop is conducted by the Hyderabad wing of Center for Social Initiatives and Management (CSIM), an organization that was covered earlier in ThinkChange-India in its Changemaker section.
The inspiration behind the workshop is well summarized by the following quote from the workshop’s homepage.
Many professionals want to volunteer but do not know for whom. Some want to donate but do not know where. Some want to implement ideas but do not know how. Most importantly, some just want to do “something” but do now know what! Answers to such questions can be found out if there is a platform which can “Develop” the social consciousness among people, which can “Inform” those in need of answers and which can “Empower” those in need of support for their ideas. Today we stand at a juncture where innumerable innovations have lowered the barrier for serving the disadvantaged… The need of the hour is to ensure that knowledge of such innovations reaches every socially conscious individual who in turn can leverage it to progress on his/her mission. This Workshop is organized to “Develop, Inform, Empower” people who want to make a difference
The workshop will present the views of four speakers who seem to be inextricably linked with the India’s social development at various levels of intervention. , for example, brings in experience in planning and consulting with government officials for envisioning futuristic cities and its basic amenities like water. On the other hand and have applied their of experience in the corporate sector to create successful social initiatives at the grass-roots level. , a Professor at ICFAI Business school and editor of books on rural transformation can be expected to bring in some insights from academic perspective.
Organized by the students of the current batch Social Entrepreneurship Outreach Program (SEOP) of CSIM, the workshop is promising not because it showcases celebrity thinkers at the global level, but because it brings together change-agents at the local-level, i.e Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh
