Rural Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) has received significant media attending in the last couple of years. However, very few firms have really managed to take this model to scale and create large-scale IT-enabled employment in rural communities. Anudip Foundation is an exception to this rule.

The organization has helped train 5,000 students who end up in IT-sector job. In addition the organization also runs rural-BPO centers across Eastern India providing ost-effective IT outsourcing and digitization services to clients worldwide. Many of Anudip Foundation’s students also end up starting their own enterprises and receive high-touch mentoring and support.

NASSCOM Foundation recently honored Anudip with its Social Innovation Honor in February 2012. Anudip’s model and resulting impact were recognized for ICT-led social innovation in the not-for-profit category. Anudip Foundation has also recently received a US$650,000 grant from Omidyar Network to help the organization to scale its skills-training and entrepreneur-development operations in Eastern India.

Its promising to continuing innovation and growth the the rural ITES sector. Building large scale rural employment continues to be a major developmental hurdle in India and solutions such as Anudip are pioneering new approaches that are much needed in the country.
